Automotive Social Media: Facebook Page Tips

As Social Engagement Increases, Privacy Decreases

The concept of The More Social We Get, the Less Private We’ll Become is explained well by Erin Ryan in this post on Soshable.

From the article: "As the most popular social network continues to break down boundaries that is unforeseen to us. Facebook has challenged us with not providing information up front or as easily accessible as we would hope for them to do. With insurmountable discussion’s questioning its methods and scaring many who use the social network to consider leaving the site. Is it really Facebook’s fault?"

Blogging? Here are ways to make your post perfect.

One of my good friends David Lux, Content Manager at TK Carsites, wrote an excellent blog post about Writing the Perfect Blog Post. It's meta, yes, but those who follow me know I love meta!

Consideration, research, ease of consumption, and being proactive are the fundamental premises behind the post, but I encourage you to read it yourself. It's worth it!

Facebook Changes - How it will Affect Car Dealers

Recently, Facebook announced changes to the way that they allow custom landing pages. In short, if you don't have 10,000 "likes" (formerly known as fans) or spend a ton of money on advertising with them, you will no longer be able to have a custom landing page for non-fans. Small businesses have been in an uproar, as custom landing pages are often the easiest way to increase size and reach on Facebook.

Luckily, TK Carsites has a solution in place that will allow our dealers to have custom landing pages without spending a ton of money or having 10,000 fans. More information on this in the coming days...

There's more to Social Media than great content

Perhaps the biggest mistake that people can make when trying to promote via social media is that they do not go beyond the content. Putting great stuff in your blog is absoutely important, but you have to have the right strategy as well as strong accounts to help your content get the exposure it deserves on sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Digg. This article goes into a little more detail about Content and Social Media, but this topic could be discussed through an entire chapter of a book or several blog posts and still only the surface would be scratched.

Posting from Email is Easy

One of the best things I've found on Posterous is the ability to easily post from email. While many other sites offer similar ways, Posterous seems to be by far the easiest one to use.

I'll definitely be posting here more often now that I know how it works.

Almost Forgot About this Blog!

There are advantages and disadvantages to running a gigantic website and blog network. The obvious disadvantage is that it's a ton of work that requires lots of people doing lots of things and some of those things get lost in the mix.

I remember making this new blog about 4 months ago, but after the whirlwind of activity that has been happening over the past few months, this puppy almost got lost in the mix. Luckily, I was flying back to Detroit that thankfully had Wifi and came across the site again.

We will be updating it more often now as I am expanding our team, but it will be a few weeks before we're able to post here consistently. In the meantime, you probably know about all of our other sites. If not, it's easy. Just search for anything automotive social media related and you'll probably find us!
